Become A Believer – Another PB Tumbles

23 05 2010

Very quick update this week.

I only did 80 miles due to my Hip Injury and the back end of a stinking cold

On Thursday however I had, had enought and set off like I was TT’ing vs Lance Armstrong arriving at work in a mere 19 mins with an average speed of 17.8Mph, I was chuffed, Thats not the full story though, I had to pull over to allow an emergency paramedic car to pass and my hip was sore (Understatment Time), without those 2 things I believe I can pass the 18mph average.

Im takin a break from commuting for the next 2 weeks so there are a couple of planned updates to ensure you dont get bored and decided to stop coming here.

I will be unabe to approve comments for a while bt PLEASE keep submitting them as I will get round to them.

and FNALLY:

Do you BELIEVE ?

To tee this one up lets do a before and after:

First up me, 18 months ago in my San Diego Chargers NFL Jersey

URGH....Was that REALLY me ?

and now me in my new Ingerlund Shirt…..YES IT FITS !!!!!!!!!!!!

10 Years in waiting !!!!

If I can....ANYONE CAN !!!!

OK So its not a great picture but you get the point, I will get some beter ones taken and post them in a few weeks.

For now though just remember if I can do it…ANYONE CAN !!!!

You look great dude; I am truely inspired by your transformation and fitness improvement. I picked up my bike on Friday and did a quick two miles around my local nature reserve. I just got back from a six mile circuit of the same reserve. I plan to build up slowly so I can eventually ride to work. I admit that I stop a few times but ah well I haven’t been on a bike since I was s teenager!

Thanks mate, its actually a bloody rubbish picture but I should have some better ones soon.

Well done mate, the most important thing though ? What bike is it ? 😀

Nahh you did well dude, my first time was a mile, I was wheezing, soaking wet and couldnt walk, hell I even had a recovery 60 min nap after it too, thats how bad I was, so you are already WAY ahead of me, way to go !!!!!!!!

I’ve got a 2010 Fuji Nevada. The guys at Evans Cycles in Birmingham really sorted me out, they also threw in a few bits and bobs because I drive a hard sell. The bike is the XL size and it fits me very comfortably being 6’3. It was mud range cost but it’s a quality bike, I figured if I do a few miles here and there my legs will get used to my pace and I should be able to get to work in about two weeks.

Theres nowt wrong with taking a break when you’ve got an injury or a cold. I often very foolishly try and ride while ill or hurt then wonder why I never recover.

Hi Gaz
Firstly a massive well done mate.

I am a 53 year old fatty ( 3.5 stone overweight) and finally got fed up with having the piss taken out of me, so I got on my bike a few weeks ago.

I have been out on the roads before work working up to cycle commute of 25 miles a day.
My colleague who is a very supportive and enthusiastic cyclist showed me your site and I have to say you just gave me a huge incentive to keep this up THANKS and WELL DONE i will be following your progress.

COME ON ENGLAND!

Hi Geoff

Thanks and weclome to my blog, do keep us updated on your progress mate, always good to help a fellow fatty !!!!

Your never too old to start but I guess you now that now, a 25 mile commute will have the weight tumbling off mate, I did just 20 miles today but with a couple of nasty hills, looking forward to getting back upto between 26.2 and 30 miles per day next week.

COME ON ENGLAND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
